Few people know that Greek mountains during winter time turn white! Seeking for an authentic – off the beaten track short break? Join us and explore the magical scenery of Mt.Smolikas on a challenging hike for experienced mountaineers. Mount Smolikas  is located close to Ioannina town in northwestern Greece. At a height of 2,637 metres above sea level, it is the highest of the Pindus Mountains, and the second highest mountain in Greece after Mount Olympus.

Day 1: Arrival in Pades village and settle to a small guesthouse. https://www.facebook.com/muntismolikas1140/

Day 2: we begin our ascend directly from our hotel. The path leads us through thick pine forest and meadows, into the alpine zone of the mountain. At more than 2000m the views to the neighboring mountains of Timfi and Nemercka to Albania are more than impressive! We reach a high alpine plateau, where in summer there is an alpine lake. This is our campsite, at 2200m! We set up camp and have dinner.

Day 3: The challenge is ahead, we climb the classic northwest of the mountain and after 2 hours we will reach the highest Pindos peak, Smolikas at 2637m! After enjoying the magical view, (half of Greece can be seen from there), we start to descent, having our lunch at camp and after collecting our tents, we descent for Pades village.
