So close in Athens, so far from the busy bustling town of Athens, come with your friends for a rejuvenating weekend in the seaside town of Loutraki. Loutraki  is a seaside resort on the Gulf of Corinth, located 81 kilometres (50 miles) west of Athens and 8 kilometres (5 miles) northeast of Corinth. Loutraki has a long history in Spa and Thermalism; the water derived from the Loutraki natural thermal springs was characterized as “The Water of Life” since antiquity. Nowadays, visitors enjoy balneology, spa treatments and wellness sessions in the modern Loutraki Thermal Spa. Our program is based at the sea front historic hotel built in 1930 and renovated in 2015, located in a central location and just next to the thermal Spa of Loutraki. The itinerary’s mains focus is on yoga practice, however and in order to enrich your overall experience in Greece, we recommend a visit to the Archaeological site of Ancient Corinth. The program is indicative and can be tailored to the specific needs of your group.

Day 1: Arrival in Loutraki

Arrival in Loutraki, settle to your hotel and time permitting enjoy a relaxing evening at the spa right next to the hotel.

Day 2: Yoga Practice & Optional Sightseeing to Ancient Corinth

Our day begins with a morning yoga session at the hotels veranda (or if the weather is not good indoors) overlooking the Corinthian gulf. A dynamic, energizing morning practice flowing and balancing, absorbing the great energy of the sea, crisp air and beautiful surroundings. Our yoga will conclude with simple pranayama ( breathing) and meditation.

Having finished with our morning practice, enjoy a delicious and healthy brunch. Afterwards we will drive to ancient Corinth, a geopolitically important city due to its strategic location on the isthmus connecting mainland Greece with the Peloponnese.  This was the ancient center of trade as well as a naval stronghold, thought to have been founded by King Sisyphus, before he was sent to Hades to roll a boulder uphill for all eternity.  Today’s archeological site is dominated by the Doric Temple of Apollo (c.550-530 BCE).  Seven of the original 21 monolithic columns remain today.  The majority of surviving buildings date from the 1st century CE in the Roman era, including a large forum, a temple to Octavia, baths, the location where St Paul addressed the Corinthians, fountains, a theatre, gymnasium and other relics.Return to the hotel and free time to relax at the spa or enjoy swimming, before we gather for our evening yoga practice. Our evening yoga practice will help us stretch, relax and open up to the mellow evening energy. We will enjoy a restful practice focusing on our hips and heart, incorporating some yin yoga elements, some partner poses and a deep, restful savasana. Our day will finish with a delicious meal in a traditional Greek tavern.

Day 3: Yoga at the Heraion of Perachora and return to Athens

Today’s yoga will take place at the archaeological site of Heraion. We will depart on a 20 minute drive to the site. The Heraion of Perachora was a sanctuary of the goddess Hera situated in a small cove of the Corinthian gulf at the end of the Perachora peninsula. In addition to a temple of Hera of unusual construction and antiquity, the remains of a number of other structures have also been found, including an L-shaped stoa, a large cistern, dining rooms, and a second potential temple. Our yoga practice will take place at the beach just beneath the archaeological site and will adapt to the location, focusing mostly on standing poses. All yoga practices will adapt to the level of the group, but will honor the Yogaworks principles of alignment and safety of the practitioner. Having finished our morning practice, we will return to the hotel for a brunch and here our program ends.

Anita Palimeri

Movement and dance have always been my great love in life! I used to dance around in my pink tutu and hope I can still inspire people to do so, no matter their age or abilities!

While abroad, living in 2003 in Nigeria I started helping out with kids ballet classes, moving to creative movement and improvisation which helps kids express more freely their needs and wishes.  I cooperated with SPAN (Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria), the American Playschool in Lagos and later in Kenya I danced with the Pre-K kids at the International School of Kenya on a volunteer basis. Since 2007, back in Greece,  I hold Creative Dance classes in schools and kindergartens in Athens with great results!

Then I met a most inspiring person, Gopala Amir, in Rainbow Yoga for Kids and Families Teacher Training Course, 2010. and yoga became my next quest. I continued practicing yoga and in 2012 completed my Yogaworks 200h Yoga Teacher Training.I practice yoga, following dutifully both Hatha and Ashtanga yoga classes, while still discovering the beautiful world of mediation and pranayama. I practice and attend seminars with inspiring teachers such as

Eddie Stern, Chuck Miller, Natasha Rizopoulos, Anna Zorzou, Christina Karytinou and others.

My dance experience comes from for 12 years of classical ballet (Royal Academy of Dance) and later authentic Movement& Improvisation, Contact Improvisation with a most inspiring teacher Christina Kleisiouni, seminars in drama therapy, dance therapy and the Orf System

My previous life: I hold an MA in European Studies, a B.A in Sociology and a Law Degree. I’ve worked for a long time in Public Relations . I speak English, French, Bulgarian and basic Indonesian.
